《VM Inspiration For The Week》

Virgil Abloh, artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, calls “Ebonics / Snake Oil / The Black Box / Mirror, Mirror.” for the Fall Winter 2021 collection. The FW21 is a reflection of the world in which we live today and also examines the “unconscious biases instilled in our collective psyche by the archaic norms of society.”

To present the collection, the show begins on a snowy hill in Switzerland. The scenes of the video take inspiration from James Baldwin’s essay Stranger in the Village. It reflects his life in a Swiss village and America as an African-American man.

Hence, to bring these scenes in the show in front of shoppers worldwide, the Maison decorates the luxury menswear window displays with statues, Swiss mountains and mirrors details at the back panels. It, therefore, creates an appealing visual story for the shoppers.
